RunningSkirts.com Free Shipping Friday

Thought this would be great news for any chic runners out there! My favorite running clothes company has free shipping today! They have great skirts, compression socks and running t-shirts. I'm a personal fan of the running skirts with the briefs attached.

Why are all the good races full?

At the beginning of the month, when drafting my Goofy Challenge training schedule I decided that I wanted to run at least 1 half marathon during the 6 months of training. I figured October would be a great month to run a half. I researched half marathons in Maryland, D.C. and Florida from late September to the last week in October. I narrowed down my possibilities to Disney's Wine and Dine Half, Hershey Park's Half, Baltimore Running Festival's Half Marathon, and the Miami Beach Halloween Half Marathon. I had my heart set on registering for the Wine and Dine Half marathon, but of course my hopes were shattered when I read a Facebook post from Run Disney saying that the Wine and Dine Half Marathon was full! I was so sad but I got over it.

My next step was to considerthe Hershey Half Marathon (who wouldn't want to run a race where they give you Hershey's CHOCOLATE!) Once again, my dreams were shattered when I checked the registration page earlier this week and it said SOLD OUT!

Now, I have two options: the Baltimore Half Marathon and the Miami Beach Halloween Half Marathon. The Baltimore Half Marathon will be $95 in two days and the Miami Beach Halloween Half Marathon is $85. However, there are many pros and cons associated with each. Baltimore wouldn't require any travel, where the Miami Beach Halloween Half would. Plus, I wouldn't want to use one of my traveling weekends for the sole purpose of completing a half, I rather visit my boyfriend. (Some background: I am completing my last year of law school this upcoming year- half in Baltimore and half in Florida. While in Baltimore, my primary focus is school and training and allow myself one weekend out of the month to travel to see my fabulous boyfriend). One of the cons of the Baltimore Half is that the course is full of hills, and hills are not a personal favorite.  However, as ridiculous as it sounds, the Baltimore Half is sponsored by Under Armour= awesome race shirts! At the end of the day, I really see myself registering for the Baltimore Half Marathon as the price is reasonable, the race is minutes away from my apartment, and my parents can drive to see me run it.

So my two conclusions of this entire situation are: (1) People have gotten the running bug and keep registering for the races I want to do and (2)I really need to sit down and nail down a final race schedule through January.

Tervis Tumber Marathon Cups

I was in Key West this past weekend with my boyfriend and friends for Hemingway days and we stumbled across the Tervis store. I wanted to buy a cup and I found out this bad boy:

I bought the cup with a hot pink lid and hot pink straw.

You can buy the cup at http://www.tervis.com/Products/TERVIS-EXCLUSIVES/MARATHON-FULL.

There are also half marathon (13.1) cups and Disney cups! I'm a big fan of their NFL line with the polka dots. I think the Dolphin cup will be my next purchase.

Cheers!

Introduction

What is the Goofy Challenge?
Disney's Goofy Challenge takes place during Disney's Marathon weekend and consists of the Half Marathon on Saturday and the Full Marathon on Sunday. That is a total of 39.3 miles in two days. Disney's Marathon weekend is on January 6th through January 9th, 2012. I'm an avid Disney fan and all the long distance races I've completed have been part of the Disney Run Series. I'm not sure what possessed me to sign up for such a crazy event, but I'm up for the challenge.

A Little Bit About Myself
My name is Anais and I'm a rising third year law student. I'm a Florida native but am attending law school in Maryland. I've completed one full marathon and two half marathons to date. In 2012, I would like to complete two full marathons and four half marathons. My long-term goal is to complete a triathlon sometime after I graduate law school and a half Iron Man before I'm 30. Another long-term goal is to complete 30 full marathons by the time I'm 30.

I've recently come to terms with the fact that I'm never going to be a fast or competitive runner. So I've decided to embrace that fact and simply run for fun. Running is my form of therapy, plus it's cheaper than a therapist and has more benefits than seeing a therapist.

Over the next 6 months I will be documenting my training, the obstacles and personal reflections about preparing and completing the Goofy Challenge. I will also post about the challenges of training for long-distance races while finishing up my last year in law school and balancing friends and family. Please feel free to comment on posts with training tips, comments, and words of encouragement. Furthermore, if you are interested in providing a guest post about training for similar races please e-mail me.

Cheers!
